The Villains All Fell in Love with Me After Rebirth : Chapter 47 - Reborn
Chapter 47: Reborn
Feeling the man’s gentle kisses fall on him.
Ji Ling finally burst into tears in panic!
If you asked him how he felt right now, the answer would be regret—deep, profound regret.
If he’d known this would happen, he definitely would’ve held back during his performance. Maybe if he’d occasionally given Jing Sui a little sweetness, he wouldn’t have ended up in this situation.
After all, judging by Jing Sui’s attitude toward him, the man absolutely couldn’t bear to force him. Jing Sui was likely resorting to this out of a ‘break it to fix it’ mindset, believing that this was the only way to help him, to let him experience the joy of such things.
The problem was—nothing had happened to him! He hadn’t been raped at all!
If this really happened today, it would actually be his first time.
What terrified Ji Ling even more was that he found the kisses incredibly pleasant—so much so that part of him wanted to give it a try. His body’s instincts were at odds with his thoughts. What on earth had Jing Sui done to him?!
Help!
Was he really about to embark on the irreversible path of being bent? He hadn’t even experienced a pure, innocent romance yet! He hadn’t held a girl’s soft hand, and now he was about to skip all that and go straight to doing that with a man?!
No! He couldn’t give up!
Summoning the greatest resolve of his life, Ji Ling bit down hard on his tongue, tears streaming from the sharp pain. The pain helped him regain a shred of clarity. Staring at Jing Sui with furious, tear-filled eyes, he cried out, “Let me go!”
Jing Sui looked up and saw the utter despair and sorrow in the boy’s eyes, along with a trace of blood at the corner of his mouth.
His expression changed instantly. He grabbed Ji Ling’s chin, forcing his mouth open. His chest rose and fell violently as he barked, “What are you doing?!”
Ji Ling looked at him in despair—frightened, terrified, resolute.
That single glance caused all of Jing Sui’s hard-won determination to crumble in an instant. His hands trembled slightly. After a long pause, he finally spoke. The man who was always strong and unyielding, never showing weakness before anyone, now had a hint of pleading in his voice. “Don’t do this. I won’t hurt you…”
But Ji Ling turned his head away, refusing to look at him, his frail body trembling slightly.
He was terrified of this—so deeply that the fear was etched into his very bones. It was so overwhelming that he’d rather harm himself than accept it.
The room fell into silence, broken only by Ji Ling’s suppressed, sobbing breaths.
No one knew how much time passed.
Jing Sui finally closed his eyes in defeat and spoke hoarsely, “I won’t touch you. Don’t be afraid—it’s over now.”
After a few seconds of silence, he picked Ji Ling up and carried him into the bathroom.
……………
After it was over, Ji Ling was still crying uncontrollably.
Although he had barely managed to protect his chastity, the man had still used his hands to bring him to release. The most humiliating part? He’d actually enjoyed it!
Jing Sui was a devil—an absolute devil!
Ji Ling lay there utterly despondent, his heart filled with despair.
Jing Sui had already left, but Ji Ling didn’t have the strength to move or even speak.
Although the immediate crisis was over, what would he do if Jing Sui insisted on using this method to help him ‘overcome his trauma’ next time? He had barely managed to resist today.
This thought left Ji Ling in a state of anxiety.
For once, he genuinely couldn’t eat.
By dinnertime the next day, Madam Saman came to visit again. She clearly already knew about last night’s events. She looked at Ji Ling with hesitation, but in the end, she said nothing and simply sighed.
Ji Ling felt utterly bitter, caught in an impossible situation. In a daze, he suddenly asked, “Aunt Shaman, does His Majesty truly love me?”
Madam Saman’s eyes softened at Ji Ling’s rare willingness to speak. She replied tenderly, “Yes, he does.”
Ji Ling lowered his head in disappointment. He believed it now too, but how was he supposed to face such feelings? Even without considering his mission, he couldn’t accept someone who didn’t truly understand him. He didn’t dare speak the truth and had no intention of starting a relationship with Jing Sui.
Eating, surviving, and going home—each of those things was more important than falling in love.
In this situation, love was the last thing on his mind.
Feeling dejected, Ji Ling said, “But he didn’t like me before. Why now…”
Madam Saman gently patted his head and said softly, “Love sometimes doesn’t follow logic. For instance, I love you simply because you’re someone worth loving.”
Ji Ling’s eyes filled with tears. But your love and his love are completely different!
After accompanying Ji Ling for a while, Madam Saman left.
Ji Ling returned to his room, utterly dispirited. Despite the food being normal today, he couldn’t feel relieved. Just as he felt utterly lost and helpless, a familiar voice suddenly sounded in his mind.
System: [Host, are you okay? Are you hurt?]
Ji Ling nearly cried tears of joy. He hurriedly asked: [Did you get my mission changed?]
System: [......]
Seeing the system’s silence, Ji Ling’s vision darkened: [It failed?]
The system replied slowly: [Not exactly. There’s no conclusion yet. I’ve submitted the request, but as you know, the Cross-World Management Office oversees countless worlds. The procedures are complex and tedious. The higher-ups are very busy, so your application has to go through layers of review. Given your unique situation, it requires investigation, meetings, discussions, votes, and finally formal approval. It’ll take time.]
Ji Ling: [......]
The system, sensing the awkwardness, tried to comfort him: [But I think there’s a good chance it’ll be approved. After all, this wasn’t your fault.]
Ji Ling couldn’t muster a smile.
Still, he forced himself to stay hopeful. The results weren’t final yet. Maybe—just maybe—there was still a chance? A small flame of hope ignited in his heart. Until the last moment, he refused to give up!
Calming down, Ji Ling asked: [Then why are you back now?]
System: [I was worried about you. I didn’t want to miss seeing you one last time…]
Ji Ling recalled his last words to the system and forced a stiff smile: [...Thanks.]
System: [It’s nothing. I can’t help much otherwise, so I’ll just keep you company for now.]
Ji Ling suddenly felt a little emotional: [System QAQ]
The system shuddered: […] What was going on? Was his host starting to lose it? Was this mission really that tough?
………………
A few days later, the system finally understood why its host was behaving this way—it was indeed a grueling ordeal.
Having accompanied Ji Ling for quite some time, the system was well aware of how much of a foodie he was. On Earth, he could spend an entire day eating non-stop while lounging at home.
He often lamented how Earth didn’t have as many unique delicacies as this world.
Food had become almost his only source of joy in this unfamiliar world.
But now, faced with so many delicacies every day, Ji Ling had to act like he had no appetite, wearing a look of utter despair. On top of that, he constantly worried whether his food had been poisoned. It was such a cruel fate that even the system couldn’t help but feel sorry for him.
One day, the system said: [How about just letting it go? It’s just one night with a man. Bear with it, and it’ll be over.]
Ji Ling’s face was gaunt, and his voice was faint, like a dying whisper: [Is this just a matter of one night with someone? There’s no way out now. If I suddenly change my attitude and arouse Jing Sui’s suspicions, do you think someone as proud as him would tolerate being deceived by me?]
The system thought for a moment and replied: [Probably not.]
Ji Ling said: [Exactly. If my identity is exposed, not only will he not tolerate my deceit, but he might also uncover the secrets of this world because of me being an outsider. That would be the real catastrophe!]
Hearing this, the system grew nervous: [You’re right. He mustn’t discover the secrets of this world.]
Ji Ling let out a long sigh and collapsed onto the bed like a corpse.
The system fell silent.
Poor host.
Ji Ling stared blankly at the ceiling. While preventing his identity from being exposed was the main issue, spending a night with a man was also a big problem! He couldn’t agree to it, not even if it killed him!
Since he couldn’t agree, all he could do was endure.
………………
One day, Ji Ling walked out of his room, rubbing his eyes, and noticed the palace was bustling with decorations and festivities. He was instantly puzzled.
Although his character wasn’t supposed to ask too many questions due to his despondent persona, he couldn’t resist stopping a servant and asking, “What’s all this for?”
The servant, brimming with excitement, replied respectfully, “His Majesty is hosting a banquet in the palace to announce the upcoming wedding with you. Soon, we will be addressing you as Her Majesty, the Empress.”
Ji Ling’s vision went dark, and he nearly fainted!
What?
Something as monumental as marriage—how had no one informed him beforehand?!
Ji Ling could no longer sit still. Not daring to confront Jing Sui, he decided to visit Madam Saman instead.
It was Ji Ling’s first time stepping out of his palace in days. Madam Saman was overjoyed to see him and said warmly, “Xiao Ling, what brings you here?”
Ji Ling’s dull eyes looked at her, disbelief written all over his face. “I heard His Majesty is announcing our wedding plans, but I wasn’t informed about it.”
Madam Saman chuckled indulgently. “Oh, that. We didn’t want to disturb you, so we didn’t tell you in advance. Don’t worry—His Majesty will take care of everything. He’ll ensure you have a grand wedding.”
Ji Ling said anxiously, “But I don’t want to marry His Majesty…”
Madam Saman patted his head affectionately and said, “I understand what you’re worried about, but it’s nothing to fret over. No matter what you’ve been through, you’ll always be my precious child. Jing Sui adores you, and if anyone dares to say you’re unworthy of him, I’ll deal with them myself! Who else could be more fitting to be the Empress?”
Ji Ling: “......”
Madam Saman continued, “I’ve been waiting for this day for so long. Soon, you’ll be calling me ‘Mom.’”
Ji Ling: “......”
He left Madam Saman’s palace in a daze.
So, in their eyes, all of this was for his own good? That this was what he wanted, what would bring him comfort? But it wasn’t—not even close!
Haven’t I made my refusal clear enough?!
Ji Ling felt utterly wronged. He felt like an Earthling surrounded by a group of aliens who couldn’t understand him. While Earthlings liked apples, these aliens, thinking he was cute, kept forcing their most cherished bananas on him. Even if he didn’t like bananas, he had no choice but to eat them. If he ate from one alien, the others got jealous. If he ate from another, the rest were upset. Refusing them all might even get him killed. :)
He didn’t want anyone; he just wanted to go home. Yet everyone was forcing him to make a choice.
Ji Ling knew it wasn’t entirely their fault. His own actions played a role too. He was playing a specific character and didn’t dare drop the act or fully be himself.
But still, he thought he’d acted terribly—bad enough to deter anyone from liking him! Why were they falling for him despite all this?!
He truly couldn’t understand.
On his way back, Ji Ling passed through the garden and saw clusters of vibrant red flowers blooming on either side. The flowers were stunningly beautiful, resembling Earth roses with delicate, dewy petals. However, their translucent, ethereal hues made them look almost unreal.
Ji Ling suddenly remembered something he had read online back when he spent most of his time browsing the interstellar web. Those days, bored out of his mind, he had devoured countless movies, forum posts, and obscure trivia about the universe. These flowers, unforgettable in their beauty, had left a lasting impression.
They were called Starlight Tears, a near-extinct species rarely seen anymore. Ji Ling was astonished to find a few growing in the palace garden.
Though harmless on their own, these flowers became fatally toxic when consumed with a certain fish.
Manluo Fish was a delicacy found only in the icy depths of Xianyun Star’s glaciers. Although it tasted extremely delicious, it was not available to ordinary people.
Both of these things were very rare. Many people might never see them in their lifetimes. Therefore, the knowledge was quite unknown. Ji Ling only saw it accidentally.
Coincidentally… Ji Ling had been served Manluo Fish nearly every day for dinner recently.
It was one of his favorite dishes, ever since he first tried it.
Ji Ling’s expression shifted as he hesitated briefly. Then, after cautiously ensuring no one was around, he hurriedly plucked two of the flowers and took them back to his room.
Once inside, he locked the door and whispered to the system: [Check for me. What’s the lethal dose of these flowers if ingested?]
The system was horrified and practically screamed: [Don’t do anything rash! Life is precious—cherish it!]
Ji Ling: [...I'm not trying to die, that's why I asked you to check.]
System: [?]
Ji Ling: [I only remember that this flower becomes toxic when eaten with Manluo fish, but I don’t know the exact dosage or detailed information. I’m worried that if I eat too much, I might actually die, so I need you to verify it.]
The system let out a sigh of relief, thankful the host wasn’t trying to commit suicide: [Are you planning to fake your own death?]
Ji Ling's eyes flickered slightly: [You could say that…]
Seeing how pitiful the host looked and reassured that he wasn’t genuinely suicidal, the system didn’t argue further. If pretending to die could temporarily free him from these people, it didn’t seem like a bad idea. The system replied: [Wait a moment.]
Moments later, the system returned: [Given your physical condition, eating more than half a petal would be fatal. Anything less should still be manageable.]
Ji Ling took a deep breath: [Got it.]
He stared at the vibrant red flower in front of him, his gaze full of conflict. After a long internal struggle, he finally made a decision. If completing the mission was impossible, then why should he care anymore?
So, you’ve all been reborn, haven’t you?
You all claim to love me?
To want to make amends?
Each of you refuses to follow the storyline—look at how broken this world has become! You just keep using the advantage of your rebirth to bully me!
If that’s the case, who says I can’t turn the tables?
Fine, let’s hurt each other.
At worst, we’ll be on equal footing and compete fairly!
………………
Jing Sui sat in his study, having learned that Ji Ling had visited his mother in the morning before returning to his palace. By evening, Ji Ling had come out for a small meal, seemingly behaving as usual.
Reflecting on the turmoil of recent events, Jing Sui’s eyes revealed a hint of fatigue. Managing Carlos had already been a challenge, but dealing with the boy’s resistance pained him even more deeply. It left him physically and emotionally exhausted.
He didn’t know what else to do to help the boy heal.
For so long, he had yielded and indulged him, unwilling to cause him any more pain—even letting him misunderstand and act out. But this constant retreat had only driven the boy further away, leading to betrayal and harm.
Facts had proven that letting go was not always the right decision.
If only he had insisted on keeping him close from the start, protecting and comforting him… Perhaps by now, they would already be together, and none of this would have happened.
Thinking about the suffering Ji Ling endured at the hands of the rebels, remorse and guilt gnawed relentlessly at Jing Sui’s heart.
He hadn’t protected him.
Finally, Jing Sui made a decision. By making Ji Ling his Empress, he could sever Carlos's ambitions while gradually drawing closer to Ji Ling. Someday, the boy would come to accept him and leave his pain behind.
Jing Sui exhaled slowly and rose to his feet, heading toward the young man's quarters. He felt the need to see him.
He had to convey the lifelong promise he intended to give.
It was the promise he had regretted never being able to make in his previous life—a time when peace prevailed but the one he longed to vow it to was already gone. The one he would have done anything to keep by his side… was no longer there.
This time, he would not let go or make the same mistake.
Jing Sui’s steps were slow and heavy as he approached the familiar door. Reaching out, he gently pushed it open.
The boy lay quietly on the bed. In sleep, he was free from his usual guardedness, resembling a delicate angel. A rare softness flickered in Jing Sui's eyes as he approached—but after just two steps, his movements froze abruptly, and his pupils contracted sharply.
With his heightened senses, he instantly noticed something amiss.
Ji Ling's breathing seemed even, but it was much slower than usual. His pale face now bore an unusual flush, and his sleeping expression was unnaturally serene.
Jing Sui's sharp gaze swept over the room, immediately spotting the translucent red flower petals scattered on the floor beside the bed.
The translucent petals stood out starkly against the white bedding and floor, their beauty alluring yet treacherous. They painted a picture of seductive elegance, as if drawn from Jing Sui’s deepest, most cherished dreams. Ji Ling, his beloved, lay amid those petals, with faint traces of the flower’s juice staining his soft pink lips. The sight was breathtaking, a vision that seemed to invite indulgence.
But Jing Sui was on the verge of losing his mind!
He instantly activated his communicator, his trembling voice barely steady: “Bring the antidote now!”
Striding to the bed, he knelt down and gently clasped Ji Ling’s wrist. The boy’s pulse was faint, as if it might fade away at any moment. In that instant, all of Jing Sui’s control and composure shattered, terror flooding his every sense.
Ji Ling had tried to kill himself!
How could he have been so careless? How could he have let this happen? How could he have given Ji Ling the chance to do this?
If Ji Ling died, what would he do?
A suffocating sense of helplessness gripped Jing Sui, freezing the blood in his veins.
Medical personnel rushed in, the room bursting into chaos. They inspected Ji Ling’s condition, administered the antidote, and monitored his vital signs. Jing Sui remained motionless, clutching Ji Ling’s hand like a lifeline, his face a mask of anguish and despair.
If only he could take his place. He wasn’t afraid of pain or suffering; he was strong enough to endure anything. But Ji Ling wasn’t… Ji Ling was too fragile to withstand even the slightest harm.
Just a little danger was enough to take him away forever.
Every passing second felt like an eternity, Jing Sui had never felt that such a short time was so difficult.
Each one sliced into Jing Sui’s heart like a blade.
Finally, a medic reported respectfully, “Your Majesty, Ji Ling is no longer in critical condition.”
Jing Sui's voice was hoarse as he asked, “Why hasn’t he woken up?”
The medic replied, “The antidote needs more time to take full effect. He should regain consciousness in about an hour.”
Jing Sui said nothing further.
The medic wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and nervously carried the medical kit out of the room. He dared not dwell on the scene he had just witnessed or imagine what might have happened if Ji Ling hadn’t been saved.
Never before had he seen such a terrifying yet vulnerable side to the cold, powerful emperor, a man who rarely showed any emotion.
Jing Sui’s gaze never left Ji Ling for a moment.
The room fell silent again, leaving only the two of them.
Time passed slowly…
Suddenly, the boy's eyelashes fluttered slightly, and Jing Sui's expression immediately tensed. His eyes locked onto the boy's face, his pale lips pressed tightly together.
The boy slowly opened his eyes and looked at the man sitting vigil by his bedside.
In those watery blue eyes, there was no fear, panic, or alarm—only calm, an abyss of lifeless stillness. It was as if he had seen through everything and nothing could ever stir him again.
In that instant, Jing Sui instinctively realized that something was wrong.
But he couldn’t immediately put his finger on it.
At that moment, the boy spoke.
He stared quietly at Jing Sui, a faint trace of mockery flickering in his calm gaze. His lips moved slightly as he spoke in a detached tone. “Your Majesty, I told you I wouldn't cling to you anymore… Have you forgotten?”
Jing Sui’s face changed dramatically.
