One more chapter today~
Chapter 45: Conspiracy

Ji Ling was left there, feeling cold and uncomfortable, a spark of anger rising in him. That jerk had gone way too far today! Not only was he so forceful with those kisses, but he dared to flirt and then just run off! At the very least, he could have freed him before leaving!

A total deviant, without a shred of common sense!

Feeling frustrated yet helpless, Ji Ling waited in a daze until he suddenly heard the door being pushed open forcefully, followed by the sound of footsteps entering. Recalling the person’s over-the-top actions, a surge of grievance hit him, and his eyes welled up with tears as he began to feign pitiful innocence. He was determined to make that cold-hearted jerk realize his mistakes!

But to his surprise, there was no response for a long time. Just as Ji Ling started feeling uneasy, he felt a coat gently drape over him.

Then he was drawn into a warm, solid embrace, and a man’s low, pained voice sounded in his ear, “It’s me.”

Ji Ling’s face froze in utter shock—this voice… it was Jing Sui!

The next moment, the blindfold was removed from his eyes, and his bound hands were released. Jing Sui’s handsome face came into view, his usually cold golden eyes now filled with undeniable anguish. He held Ji Ling so tightly, his hands trembling slightly…

Ji Ling: …

A few seconds later, his face flushed bright red. Oh no, how embarrassing! So it was Jing Sui who came in earlier?

The thought of Jing Sui seeing him in such a shameful state made Ji Ling look utterly dejected. Being toyed with by that awful jerk was already humiliating enough, but now someone else had seen him like this! Why? Why?

He wanted to vanish on the spot QAQ.

He wanted to just die on the spot!

Jing Sui took off his black coat, carefully draping it over the young boy and holding him close. He watched as the boy's eyes widened in shock, then quickly shut in embarrassment, his face flushing red, eyelashes trembling… This scene felt like countless sharp blades piercing into Jing Sui’s heart, shredding his heart—and his reason—into a thousand pieces.

He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and summoned all his willpower to maintain the last bit of composure, gently lifting the fragile, pale young boy into his arms.

Ji Ling was nestled in Jing Sui’s arms, too mortified to make a sound.

But after a moment, he thought of Ning Yu, who was still trapped here. Battling his shyness, he opened his eyes, lashes damp with tears, and whispered, “Ning Yu… he got captured because of me too. Please… help him.”

Jing Sui’s gaze hardened slightly. He had long been suspicious of Ning Yu; if it weren’t for Ning Yu’s invitation, Ji Ling wouldn’t have been taken by the rebels. However, seeing the worry in Ji Ling’s eyes, he chose not to mention any of this and simply replied, “Alright.”

Hearing his answer, Ji Ling closed his eyes and kept silent again.

Jing Sui held him tighter, allowing Ji Ling to rest his head against his chest, wishing only to take him away immediately. The moment they emerged, the intense sounds of battle outside filled his ears.

Jing Sui squinted, looking over to see Carlos standing in the distance with Brandon blocking his path, both figures radiating hostility.

Both men noticed the boy Jing Sui held in his arms.

Although Ji Ling was wrapped in a black coat, the exposed pale, slender legs revealed he was wearing nothing underneath. His delicate legs and ankles were marked with a visible kiss and hand marks.

These cruel marks spoke volumes about what he had endured.

Carlos’s face twisted with fury, his refined, deep features contorted in anger as he moved to rush forward. But Brandon stepped in to block him again!

Brandon, shaken and filled with pain himself, still remembered his task for the day—he couldn’t let Carlos take Ji Ling away again!

Jing Sui shot Carlos a cold glance from afar, then turned, carrying Ji Ling into his warship. Rage flared in Carlos’s eyes, but Brandon refused to budge from his path!

Damn it! If he’d gotten here first, he would never have let Jing Sui take Ji Ling!

……………
Ji Ling couldn’t care less if the fighting outside raged on endlessly. Whether Jing Sui or Carlos took him back… well, it didn’t make much difference to him anymore. They were both crazy QAQ.

Held tightly in Jing Sui’s arms, Ji Ling stayed silent all the way back to the palace, where Jing Sui never once let go. Even though he was extremely cautious, their journey didn’t go unnoticed, and Ji Ling’s face flushed with embarrassment. Just what sins had he committed in a past life to be so publicly humiliated like this?

Thank goodness this wasn’t his original world, or he wouldn’t dare show his face outside…

Jing Sui brought Ji Ling back to his own quarters, returning to the familiar room. He never imagined he’d be back in this place he’d once tried so hard to escape…

Memories of being forced to kiss Jing Sui every day flooded back, of acting and strategizing every day just to survive. Gabriel may have been awful, but at least he had no intention of doing that kind of thing to him…

But Jing Sui did!

Uneasy and anxious, Ji Ling was utterly despairing of this deranged world!

Jing Sui lowered his gaze, his eyes settling on Ji Ling’s neck, wrists, and shoulders. His jaw clenched tightly; in his urgency to rescue Ji Ling before Carlos arrived, he hadn’t even had time to check his condition carefully. Now that he did, the agony in his heart spread uncontrollably.

It was his own fault for not protecting him. If only he’d kept Ji Ling by his side from the start—even if Ji Ling hated him—it would have prevented this torment and abuse. His boy was so innocent; how could he possibly endure such pain?

He had never regretted anything so deeply as letting Ji Ling go.

After a long pause, Jing Sui gently placed his hand on Ji Ling’s head and spoke hoarsely, “I’ll come back to see you later.”

Though it pained him to leave.

There were still urgent matters he needed to handle.

………………
Jing Sui stepped out of his quarters and into the receiving hall.

Brandon was waiting there, still bearing the marks of his recent battle with Carlos, bloodstains visible on his arm. His normally composed appearance was in disarray, and the pain on his face was evident. When he saw Jing Sui, his face tightened, his deep voice tinged with pain. “How is he?”

Jing Sui’s gaze was dark as an abyss. He took a long, steadying breath before replying, “He’s not in any life-threatening condition.”

Brandon’s right hand clenched tightly, gray eyes full of hatred and sorrow. Although Ji Ling’s life wasn’t in danger… the damn rebels had many ways to make someone wish for death through endless torment.

Just the thought of what Ji Ling might have endured caused Brandon’s gaze to grow icy cold. For the first time, he felt a fierce desire for vengeance against those damn rebels.

Despite his intense anger, Brandon still held onto his composure. Forcing himself to refocus, he spoke in a cold tone, “I’ve already investigated that planet and base. Although it appears to be under the control of Lord Quink, it’s actually secretly managed by Carlos.”

Jing Sui’s lips parted slightly as he raised his gaze. “But Carlos isn’t the one behind this.”

Brandon let out a single, icy word: “The Rebel.”

They exchanged a heavy look, both revealing a deep, serious expression.

Carlos’s extensive efforts to locate Ji Ling over this time weren’t a pretense; he had no need or reason to play such a game, nor to harm Ji Ling in this way. Thus, this situation was clearly not his doing. Ji Ling was found on a planet secretly controlled by him.

However, it was no coincidence

Jing Sui spoke slowly, “Gabriel did it on purpose. He deliberately hid Ji Ling in Carlos’s territory to frame him, intending to use Ji Ling’s situation to provoke conflict between us and Carlos. Or rather—to give us a legitimate excuse to go after Carlos.”

Brandon’s voice was filled with fury, “He’s not doing it out of goodwill. Most likely, he’s hoping to see us and Carlos wear each other down.”

A cold smile tugged at Jing Sui’s lips as his eyes turned grim, and he pronounced his plan slowly and resolutely: “Announce that we’ve successfully rescued Ji Ling and that Carlos had deceived him, imprisoning him on his territory when Ji Ling discovered the scheme. Carlos framed the Rebel to stir up conflict, aiming to hinder the implementation of the genetic evolution drug. For his goals, he committed such acts, and he owes Duke Ji Ting and me an explanation!”

Brandon looked up, stunned. “You…”

Jing Sui’s expression was detached and cold, with a glint of chilling intent. “This is exactly what Gabriel expects us to do—to take the bait and act first, ensuring the genetic evolution drug can continue smoothly. Even if we can’t eliminate Carlos’s power this time, every one of his associates involved in this incident, including Lord Quink, will bear my wrath. Carlos will suffer from this blow, and any future attempts he makes to provoke us will give us all the reason we need to counter him.”

Brandon thought for a moment, grasping the key points but feeling dissatisfied.

It felt wrong to be manipulated like this.

To see the boy harmed and the true perpetrator unscathed.

They hadn’t had a legitimate reason to hunt down the real enemy.

Brandon’s fists trembled with anger that nearly broke his restraint.

Jing Sui shared that bitterness, but he took a deep breath, his gaze sharp and unwavering. “This is our best choice.”

Brandon’s voice was strained with fury. “He must pay the price.”

Jing Sui’s lips curled into a hard smile, his eyes darkening. “He knows we won’t let him go, but he also knows—we won’t refuse his ‘gift.’ This is an open ploy because if we abandon suppressing Carlos to focus on the Rebel, it would let Carlos benefit, undoing all our previous efforts and allowing the situation to spiral out of control. And…”

Brandon remained silent.

Jing Sui continued slowly, “While our primary focus appears to be Carlos, we cannot let up on the hidden search efforts. I underestimated the Rebel; they’ve infiltrated far more deeply than I thought, seizing Ji Ling right from the capital and hiding him on Carlos’s territory undetected. Their power is not to be taken lightly.”

Brandon finally spoke, his voice steady and determined, “I’ll handle it.”

Jing Sui nodded, his golden eyes glinting faintly, his tone cold yet filled with an ingrained hatred. “Once I crush Carlos’s forces and secure the genetic evolution drug, the Rebel will have no ground to stand on, making them inconsequential. At that time—kill him.”

Brandon’s gray eyes showed a merciless, bloodthirsty glint as he said calmly, “We don’t have to wait. If we find him sooner, I’ll gladly end him myself.”

Jing Sui raised a brow, his gaze cold. “Good.”

Although Carlos was their primary target for now and their policy implementation was the top priority, this didn’t mean they planned to let the real culprit go unpunished.

Gabriel was fully aware of this, yet he didn’t care—he was a man who would stop at nothing to achieve his goals.

Jing Sui’s expression was icy.

………………
Ji Ling sat for a while, feeling uncomfortable, so he took a shower, changed clothes, and sat dazedly on the bed.

The thought of facing Jing Sui, who wouldn’t give up, left him anxious and uncertain.

Why hasn’t the system returned?

He was nearly out of ways to keep going…

Ji Ling sighed. Suddenly, he heard footsteps and looked up, surprised to see Jing Sui at the door.

The handsome man with black hair and golden eyes stood there without entering, just watching him with a complicated look in his usually sharp eyes.

Ji Ling felt uneasy under his gaze and averted his eyes, fidgeting with his hands. The last time he’d seen Jing Sui was at his engagement ceremony with Carlos, when Jing Sui’s uncontrollable kiss had thoroughly frightened him.

Only then did he realize that Jing Sui’s tolerance had limits. Jing Sui’s constant indulgence had encouraged him to push boundaries, which nearly led to disaster.

For Ji Ling, both their last parting and this reunion were anything but pleasant…

Leaving him on edge.

The thought that this jealous man might act out scared him, and he took a small step back, watching Jing Sui cautiously.

Jing Sui had intended to approach him, but, unsure how to face him, he remained frozen at the door. Then he saw Ji Ling’s pale face, like a frightened kitten, shrinking back and looking at him pitifully.

He took a deep breath, filling his chest with cold air, the ache spreading through his body.

What did they do to you…

To make you this way?

He looked at the young man before him, who once shone brightly but now seemed only fearful, trembling, and withdrawn—a stranger. Jing Sui’s lips moved slightly, and after a long pause, he stepped forward, his voice low and hoarse, “I won’t… let this happen again.”

His voice was calm, but beneath it was a raging storm of pain and regret.

Ji Ling froze for a moment, then suddenly realized that Jing Sui had misunderstood, thinking something had happened to him. Ahem... although nothing really happened, the scene did make it easy to misunderstand, which only made things more awkward...

Ji Ling looked at Jing Sui, unsure of what to do.

The atmosphere grew awkward once again.

Just then, Ji Ling saw Jing Sui take another step forward, his tall figure looming closer.

Jing Sui lowered his eyes, his gaze landing on the young man.

The young man wore a loose, white nightshirt, exposing a small section of collarbone below his neck, marked with faint, lingering kiss marks. Just looking at this made it easy to imagine how that man must have roughly tormented him, claiming him, leaving his own marks...

The young man that he held dear, cherished beyond all else—who he couldn't bear to see hurt or sad no matter how much he restrained himself—had been ruthlessly tormented and taken by another man in just over a month.

Jealousy and pain gradually rose in Jing Sui's eyes, pushing his restraint to the breaking point.

Although he had appeared calm when making his decision moments before, he knew that, at this moment, he hated not only Carlos but even more so the vile person who had possessed the young man.

He didn’t want to be this calm; he was unwilling to endure it.

Jing Sui's chest heaved slightly as the affection he’d been suppressing, his urge to get close, and his pain and pity all tangled into an impossibly complex emotion... At last, he reached out, gently grasping the young man's wrist. His other hand moved to his hair, brushing it softly and tenderly.

Ji Ling's wrist was tightly held by the man. Seeing him lean in closer, the look in his eyes mixed with restraint, yet filled with... an almost uncontrollable desire, Ji Ling suddenly realized what Jing Sui intended to do.

He almost started crying on the spot!

Why do all of you want to do this the moment you see me? Can't you stay away?

I've held back so much, yet you still insist on coming closer. And if it weren't for you and Carlos, I wouldn't have even been targeted by that awful scoundrel in the first place! Do you have any idea what I've been through? I'm on the verge of breaking down, you know?!

Despair swelled in Ji Ling's heart!

Jing Sui's gaze lingered on the young man’s lips, that faint, alluring color—who knows how many times another man has kissed them. Those lips that were his, his precious treasure…

Now claimed by someone else, disregarded, cruelly treated.

Jing Sui's grip tightened as he tried to restrain himself. Despite the jealousy and rage that raged within him, he kept himself in check.

He leaned closer, his voice a husky whisper, "Don't move..."

Ji Ling stared at the man’s handsome face as it neared, his golden eyes a mix of gentleness, pity, jealousy, and madness…

Nooo!

Why can't I escape this destiny of being kissed by men?

As Ji Ling thought about this, all the frustration he’d been bottling up suddenly erupted! That hateful scoundrel had locked him away, forced him to endure it for Ning Yu’s sake, bearing it to protect someone else… But now, back in the palace, why should he still hold back?

Oh, right—he could not risk angering Jing Sui, which might lead to serious consequences…

The last attempt to provoke Jing Sui by getting engaged to Carlos had already proven to be a dangerous and foolish move! It almost triggered severe repercussions.

But if he couldn’t mention Carlos, what excuse could he use?

Ji Ling froze for a moment, then an idea struck him.

Jing Sui and the others already believed he had been raped, right? In that case... maybe he could use that to his advantage? Since provoking Jing Sui was a bad idea, surely playing the pitiful card would work, right?

If you like me so much, surely you wouldn’t want to harm someone who’s been through so much suffering, would you?

Ji Ling took a deep breath, thinking, Sorry, friend, you’re taking the fall for this one. But considering you’re a detestable scoundrel, I have zero guilt about making you take the blame!

Jing Sui approached the young man he cherished, embracing him gently and raising his face with deep affection and pity.

The young man seemed dazed, his eyes vacant as if lost in thought. His slender, fragile frame looked as though the slightest force could break it, his innocence and paleness evoking both pity and love.

Jing Sui leaned in, just about to kiss him, but then noticed the young man’s eyes suddenly filled with intense fear.

He froze for a moment.

The next second, the young man jerked away from his hand as if scalded, desperately struggling to escape his embrace. He huddled at the foot of the bed, clutching his knees, trembling uncontrollably. His pale lips quivered as he murmured, "Please, don’t touch me… I’m begging you…"
